Privacy

We keep this short.

Cusp Africa is a public reference site. There's no login, no account, no profile. Most of what you do here we never see.

Last updated: 8 May 2026

What we don't collect

  • No accounts, passwords, or personally identifying profiles.
  • No advertising trackers or third-party ad cookies.
  • No fingerprinting or session-replay tooling.
  • No selling or sharing of any data, ever.

What we do receive

Like every web server, ours sees standard HTTP request data: IP address, user-agent, the URL you requested, and the time of the request. We use this only to serve the page, debug outages, and rate-limit abuse. Logs are retained for short periods (under 30 days) and are not joined with any other dataset.

We may use lightweight, privacy-respecting traffic analytics (e.g., Vercel Analytics) that aggregate page-view counts without setting tracking cookies or building user profiles. These stats are anonymous in aggregate.

Cookies

Cusp Africa does not set first-party tracking cookies. Functional cookies — for example, a region filter you toggle — are limited to your browser session and are not used to track you between visits.

Third-party services

Page-rendering, hosting, and content delivery rely on the providers we name on our /sources page. When you click a link to a source provider (World Bank, WHO, UNICEF, Unsplash photographer page, OpenStreetMap), their privacy policy applies — not ours.

Image hosts (Unsplash, Wikimedia) may receive standard request data when their CDNs serve a photograph. We do not pass them anything beyond the request URL.

Children

Cusp Africa is intended for general audiences, including students. Because we collect no personal information, we do not knowingly process data from children. Ages are not requested, stored, or inferred.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle visitor data, we will update this page and revise the “last updated” date above. There is no mailing list; if you want to be notified, watch the public repository.
