What Cusp Africa is

Cusp Africa is a public, free-to-use reference site about African tourism destinations and open development data. It's provided as-is, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Acceptable use

You may:

  • Browse and reference any page.
  • Download datasets in CSV, JSON, or Excel for research, journalism, education, and personal projects.
  • Quote our editorial copy with attribution to Cusp Africa.
  • Link to any page directly — no permission required.

You may not:

  • Misrepresent Cusp Africa data as your own original collection without attribution.
  • Republish images or photographer-credited media in violation of their underlying license. See /sources for per-source rules.
  • Use the site to defame, harass, or misrepresent any country, people, or community covered.
  • Scrape at a rate that disrupts service for others. Reasonable reuse via the public download endpoints is fine; abusive crawling is not.

Data accuracy & disclaimers

Indicators come from third-party providers — World Bank, WHO, UNICEF, OpenStreetMap. We surface their data faithfully, but we do not independently verify every figure. For consequential decisions (research papers, policy work, travel safety), confirm against the primary source linked on each dataset page.

Tourism information is editorial and curated, but conditions on the ground change. Always verify operating hours, entry requirements, safety advisories, and seasonal access with local authorities before travelling.

Intellectual property

The Cusp Africa codebase, brand identity, and site design are © Cusp Africa. The editorial copy is licensed CC BY 4.0 (reuse with attribution). Underlying data and photography are governed by the licenses listed on /sources.

No warranty, no liability

Cusp Africa is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all express and implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or its data.

Changes

We may update these terms as the project evolves. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
